Description:

You are bidding on a collection of episodes from the old time radio show The Lux Radio Theatre. This anthology program was one of the mainstays of the golden age of radio, and was one of the longest running programs of its kind. There are 484 episodes on 2 MP3 DVD discs.

Produced and frequently hosted by film legend Cecil B. DeMille, Lux Radio Theater strove to feature as many of the original stars of the original stage and film productions as possible, usually paying them $5,000 per appearance to do the show. It was when sponsor Lever Brothers (who made Lux soap and detergent) moved the show from New York to Hollywood in 1936 that it eased back on adapting stage shows and moved toward film adaptation. Many of the greatest names in film appeared in the series, most in the roles they made famous on the screen, including Abbott & Costello, Lauren Bacall, Lucille Ball, Humphrey Bogart, Charles Boyer, Claudette Colbert, Gary Cooper, Bing Crosby, Dan Duryea, Ava Gardner, Cary Grant, Bob Hope, Vivien Leigh, Agnes Moorehead, Vincent Price, Donna Reed, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Stanwyck, James Stewart, Gene Tierney, John Wayne, Jane Wyman, Orson Welles, and Loretta Young, to name just a few of the film legends who appeared on the show.  And with such big names on the air, it’s no wonder that at the height of its popularity, Lux Radio Theater attracted audiences of over 40 million.

Copyright-Only Dedication (based on United States law) or Public Domain Certification

The person or persons who have associated work with this document (the "Dedicator" or "Certifier") hereby either (a) certifies that, to the best of his knowledge, the work of authorship identified is in the public domain of the country from which the work is published, or (b) hereby dedicates whatever copyright the dedicators holds in the work of authorship identified below (the "Work") to the public domain. A certifier, morever, dedicates any copyright interest he may have in the associated work, and for these purposes, is described as a "dedicator" below.

A certifier has taken reasonable steps to verify the copyright status of this work. Certifier recognizes that his good faith efforts may not shield him from liability if in fact the work certified is not in the public domain.

A dedicator makes this dedication for the benefit of the public at large and to the detriment of the Dedicator's heirs and successors. Dedicators intend this dedication to be an overt act of relinquishment in perpetuity of all present and future rights under copyright law, whether vested or contingent, in the Work. Dedicator understand that such relinquishment of all rights includes the relinquishment of all rights to enforce (by lawsuit or otherwise) those copyrights in the Work.

Dedicator recognizes that, once placed in the public domain, the Work may be freely reproduced, distributed, transmitted, used, modified, built upon, or otherwise exploited by anyone for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial, and in any way, including by methods that have not yet been invented or conceived.

After a careful search of the Library of Congress and the United States Trademark and Patent Office, it has been determined that the programs listed for sale here are in the Public Domain. They are being offered with the understanding that no valid or active copyright, trademark, and/or patent exsist for them. These recordings are sold for private home listening and use only. No broadcast rights are stated, implied, or given. I assume no responsibility for unauthorized use of these programs. They are listed in accordance with current Ebay policies concerning public domain old time radio program materials.

It used to be you could only listen MP3 files on your computer's CD or DVD drive. But newer CD/DVD players may be capable of playing MP3 files in their native format. So you are not limited to only your computer. But you should check with the manufacturer of your player for this capability. It is also possible to transfer these programs to an iPod using iTunes. That is how I listen to them, and the results are quite good.
